How to prepare your garden to lay slate and gravel

Ensuring the area or path is clear and level. We also recommend a weed membrane. Depending on the sizes of the area and the depth you require will depend how many sacks you need. If you would like to speak to one of our advisors we would be able to assist you with this.

Shrinkage/wood movement

Wood is a natural product and over time with extreme weather of rain and sun
the wood will contract and expand. This is not failure of the wood. Small
splits, cracks and knots can be wood filled where needed.

Wood may also move after installation which can cause issues but is completely unavoidable and is a result of being a natural product and is not a failing.

Wood Aftercare

All wood requires treatment to protect against the elements. This must be
done within 3 months of the timber being installed and annually thereafter.
