Black Heavy Duty Hinges for Timber Gates

This Straight Heavy Duty Hook and Band Hinge Set in black is suitable for heavier timber gates where a strong, traditional hinge is required. It is ideal for garden gates, side gates and larger timber gates that need more support than standard T hinges.

The black finish gives a smart appearance and works well with matching black latches, bolts and gate furniture.

      Which Gate or Door Hinge Do I Need?

      Hinge Type Best Used For Typical Use
      Medium T Hinge Shed doors, garden gates and light timber doors General-purpose hinge for everyday timber door and gate projects.
      12" T Hinge Small to medium gates and shed doors Useful where a neat, practical hinge is needed for lighter timber doors.
      15" T Hinge Medium timber gates and larger shed doors Gives extra support compared with shorter T hinges.
      18" T Hinge Larger shed doors and wider garden gates Better suited to heavier or wider timber doors than smaller T hinges.
      Straight Hook & Band Hinge Heavy gates and driveway gates Heavy-duty hinge set for stronger gate hanging applications.

      Supplier Fitting Instructions

      1. For these heavy duty hooks and bands, fit the bands to the gate first.

      2. For adjustable hook & bands only, ensure the adjustable eye bolt is inserted

      in the band and adjust by hand so that the eye is in the right position to slot onto

      the hook.

      3. Choose position for the bands which is horizontal and ensures the end (or eye for

      the adjustable band) which will slot onto the hook, has sufficient overhang. Mark

      out holes for the band on the gate.

      4. Drill pilot holes in the gate for the band fixings and fix the band to the gate with

      the screws provided.

      5. Once all bands are fixed, position gate in opening ensuring adequate clearance,

      support the gate securely in this position. Insert band onto hook (for adjustable

      bands, tighten the eye bolts at this point) and continue to support the gate with

      hooks in place whilst drilling pilot holes in the post/frame for the hooks.

      6. Fix the hooks firmly to the gate post using screws provided.

      7. For additional security, the bottom hook can be fitted upside down to stop the

      gate being lifted off.
